Reviews say that this new Dell has outrun the Apple MacBook Air in the title for the thinnest laptop around. The truth is this laptop is a beauty. Just by taking a look at the picture above you can tell it is so slim and elegant that some of you could even be afraid to break it.  The length may be bigger than that of the Apple MacBook Air but when it comes to thickness, it has been reduces to half size. The raising screen is a very nice touch and makes the display look bigger than it does on normal laptops. This is definitely a revolutionary laptop that deserves special attention (if only the price was something more affordable). The 13.4 inch display has a wonderful resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. The processor is a 1.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo ULV and the graphics card is an Intel GS 45 Integrated with 256 MB of shared video memory. So, when it comes to specs, Apple MacBook Air is better. However, the components of the Dell Adamo XPS do not decrease its functionality. With 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of solid state drive, this laptop will help you get around your daily business and it will also help you look good while you’re doing it.

As far as the design goes, aside from being the thinnest laptop around, the new Dell Adamo will surprise with its new opening style. This laptop can be opened by moving your finger over a special sensor. In consequence, this action will heat the memory wire and unlock the keyboard to reveal the beautiful display. This laptop also has a second battery and you can suspend the laptop to swap this battery in a matter of seconds and still continue to work in the mean time. The batteries are so light you could carry around with you as many as you like and keep swapping them so you can use this laptop for basically unlimited time. You want to know how Dell has made this laptop so thin? Well, they placed a lot of the interior components in the display and some of them are even in the power supply. The fan was integrated onto the motherboard and this help save some space and make this laptop even thinner. This laptop uses a PFC, a special power factor correction power supply and this is a pretty rare thing for a laptop. This means it reduces the reactive power you use and actually makes you pay less for your power bill. It really seems like Dell though about everything, doesn’t it?

Unless you are a heavy gamer and then you definitely need top of the line components or else no laptop can satisfy you, the Dell Adamo XPS is one machine every other person could fall in love with. Even if it’s not pink, or lime or any other color that you could spot from miles away, it will attract the look of all those around you because it’s simply elegant and unique. Imagine being at the office or in a class at the university and swiping your finger so the keyboard can drop down. Is that something to look at or what? Or guys, you can all stop drooling now. If you want to buy several batteries, a multiple battery chargerwould be a nice accessory. Although it is thin and light, this laptop is much more comfortable when you use it on a flat surface like your desk rather than on your lap. You could buy a lap desk and that would solve the problem.

The $1799 price tag is a bit lower than we expected. Sure, the laptop does not have any magnificent specs that could actually make it expensive but the revolutionary design is probably worth $1000 out of that total price. The price is similar to the Apple MacBook Air. You can use the new Windows 7 operating system with the Dell Adamo XPS (it is also called the Adamo 9.99 because it’s only 9.99 mm thin). There is nothing you could hate about this laptop. It puts the “lux” in “luxurious” because it’s very different from other top of the line laptops with unique design. And the fact that it’s the first laptop to be thinner than the Apple MacBook Air (which a lot of laptops wanted to beat but never succeeded so far) says a lot about the technicians, engineers and designers over at Dell.

As expected, there is not much to say about the ports and connection of this laptop. Most of them are, well, missing! The laptop does have a Display Port connector, 2 USB ports and a headphones jack. There is no Ethernet port and this may upset some people because they have to set up a wireless connection at home in order to gain internet access from their new Dell Adamo XPS. To tell the truth, the Apple MacBook Air was not that good with ports and connections either. But you have to sacrifice some things to get the thinnest laptop in the world. If the 128 GB hard drive is not enough to satisfy your storage needs, you can always go with the 250 and 500 GB hard drives which are available from Dell. Unfortunately, they are external drives. This laptop does not have any kind of optical drive but you can always buy an external one. Even if there are solutions available to fill in the gaps of this system, they are going to cost extra. In the end, it does make an excellent laptop for those of you that care a lot about the design and portability of your notebook. We do appreciate the effort that Dell has made to bring us a laptop which is different in so many ways
